The Louisville Cardinals will be without three key pieces on offense and multiple defensive players against the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon. The game between UVA and Louisville was postponed one week as the Cards dealt with a COVID-19 outbreak, and there are still some lingering affects for the visiting squad’s depth.
Running back Javian Hawkins, who entered this weekend with an ACC-best 117.4 rushing yards per game, is a huge loss for the Cards. On top of losing Hawkins, Louisville will be without their No. 2 RB in Hassan Hall. Hall is third on Louisville’s team in rushing yards with just 29 per game, behind Hawkins and QB Malik Cunningham (31 yards per game).
If that wasn’t bad enough news for Coach Satterfield and the Cards, Louisville will also be without dynamic WR TuTu Atwell. He averages 75 yards per game in the air, and is one of Louisville’s big play threats.
On Defense, three defensive linemen and a cornerback will be unavailable.
Here are all seven players that will miss today’s game per Louisville’s availability report:
DL YaYa Diaby
DL Derek Dorsey
DL Tabarius Peterson
CB Chandler Jones
RB Hassan Hall
WR Tutu Atwell
RB Javian Hawkins
On the Virginia side, it is still unknown if Brenton Nelson and Joey Blount will be available as the defensive duo recovers from injury, but WR Lavel Davis Jr. and RB Ronnie Walker Jr. should make their return and debut, respectively.
Per a release from Virginia, “There are no Virginia Football student-athletes or staff in quarantine or isolation for today’s game vs. Louisville following recent COVID-19 testing.”
The Cards and Hoos are set to kick off on the ACC Network at 3:30pm.
