While the ACC Tournament really gets going on Wednesday, we do get a nice little two game slate to kick things off. Not only that, but tournament darling North Carolina’s run begins now(?).
Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
KP: Wake Forest -1, O/U 139
Vegas: Wake Forest +2, O/U 137.5
I might be missing something here, but I’m not sure why the bets and money have swung to the Panthers. With a KenPom prediction of Wake -1, it’s interesting to see the line move to Pitt. Not only did the Demon Deacons win their only match up of the season, but they’ve actually been competitive recently with wins over North Carolina, Duke, and Notre Dame in their last seven games. Pitt meanwhile has lost seven in a row and haven’t won outside of the Petersen Events Center since January 8th. This game is in Greensboro. Speaking of Greensboro. Never bet against a Childress in the Coliseum.
Pick: Wake Forest +2
North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
KP: Virginia Tech +1, O/U 139
Vegas: Virginia Tech +4.5, O/U 142
Count me among those rooting for North Carolina to make a run at the ACC title (unless they play Virginia of course). But this isn’t about wanting to see something crazy. This is about making a smart bet. With the Heels as a trendy pick to “make some noise” in the tournament, you’re getting some solid value on the Hokies. I’d like it climb a half point or so, but as it stands, I’m ok going against the grain
Pick: VaTech +4.5
Season Total: ATS (27-28-1), O/U (10-13), Total (37-41-1)
