Who goes on the Mount Rushmore of Virginia Athletics?

The four greatest...how do we even narrow it down from there?

NCAA Basketball: Final Four-National Championship-Virginia vs Texas Tech Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Tony Bennett. Bruce Arena. George Welsh. Brian Boland. Brian O’Connor. Debbie Ryan.

Any big Virginia Cavaliers fan knows each of these as household names. Those are five of the most influential coaches to have touched the Virginia Athletics program, and you’d probably know who I’m talking about if I just dropped in their first names.

And those are just the coaches.

If you were to create a Mount Rushmore of Virginia Athletics, who would you include? Can you even narrow it down to just four?

You define your own Mt. Rushmore qualifications. The four with the biggest impact? The four most successful? The top coach, two players, and fan? You decide!

We’re taking on this monumental task (I’m missing a mountain pun in here somewhere), but we’re going to take it in pieces, going through some of the University’s most successful sports to create each of their own Mount Rushmores, and from there, we’ll use those to come up with the ultimate Mount Rushmore of Charlottesville, Va.

We’ll kick it off later this afternoon with baseball and continue adding in the weeks to come, but in the meanwhile, we want to hear from you! Who hits your Mount Rushmore in each sport?
