The Virginia Cavaliers’ hot streak on the recruiting trail continued on Thursday as the Hoos landed another commitment—their fifth in ten days. Lafayette (Va.) athlete Michael Green chose UVA as a linebacker.

Standing 6-foot-4 and clocking in at 215 pounds, Green is listed as a wide receiver in the 247 database and a tight end on Rivals. Both services rate him a three-star, with 247’s internal rating (88) registering as a high-three. Watch for Green’s ratings to change now that his college position is locked in.
Green’s other Power Five offers include Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Pitt, Syracuse, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Boston College.
No surprise for a guy who cross-trains at WR/TE, but Green has that Charles Snowden/Noah Taylor frame, with the explosive range to match. He’s violent at the point of contact with the ball carrier. The receiving skills he has developed on offense should translate well for dropping into coverage; think Taylor’s crucial interception against VaTech this year. Like those guys who have trod this path before him, Green will need to bulk up and develop better technique to fend off run blockers—right now, he absorbs and works around blocks instead of attacking and working through them.
Virginia is up to 10 commits in the class of 2021, and the class is ranked 19th nationally per the 247 Composite rankings.
