It had been a few weeks since the Bronco Bat Signal was last put into use. But on Wednesday, the Virginia Cavaliers flipped the switch back on as Cleveland, TN athlete Javin Burke chose UVA as his college destination.

Burks is listed as an athlete on 247 and a running back on Rivals, but UVA likes him as a defensive back. The 6-foot, 200-pound playmaker holds an 87 rating from 247 and a 5.5 three-star from Rivals. In addition to Virginia, Burke held offers from Vanderbilt, Tennessee, South Carolina, Army, Navy, Baylor, and Mississippi State, among others.
Speed—lots of speed. That’s what jumps off the tape first. Even a batch of highlights of Burke playing quarterback, it’s easy to see what the Virginia coaches like about him. Burke could follow something like the De’Vante Cross role at UVA and cross-train at multiple positions, but getting him settled in as a full-time defensive back could create a pretty special player.
The Hoos are up to 15 commitments now, with a class still inside the national top-30.
