The ACC’s head women’s soccer coaches projected the Virginia Cavaliers to finish third in the league, the conference announced just hours after the men’s poll was released on Tuesday. UVA received 113 total points.

Two Virginia forwards were also named to the Preseason All-ACC Team: sophomore Diana Ordonez, who posted a team-high 34 points a season ago, and junior Alexa Spaanstra. Both were All-ACC Second Team selections in 2019.

With eight first-place votes, North Carolina, the reigning national runner-ups and defending ACC champions, was tabbed the conference’s preseason favorites, followed by Florida State (three first-place votes) and Virginia (two first-place votes).

Due to COVID-19 complications and injuries, NC State opted out of the 2020 season. The remaining 13 teams will play eight conference matches this fall (four home, four away).

Virginia will kick things off this Saturday at home against Virginia Tech.
