Tonight, the Virginia Cavaliers face Florida State in a game that has huge implications in the ACC standings and NCAA tournament seeding. The Cavaliers moved up two spots to No. 7 after a week that saw them win a road game at Georgia Tech and handle North Carolina at home. FSU needed overtime to take down Wake Forest, but the Noles were rusty coming off of a long COVID pause. Florida State moved up one spot to No. 16 in this week’s poll.

This will be Virginia’s fourth ranked-ranked matchup this season, holding a record of 1-2 in the other three games.

Virginia still leads the way for the ACC, with Virginia Tech (No. 18) also ranked this week. The Hokies haven’t played since February 6 as they have had games rescheduled due to COVID protocols both with opponents and their own program.

At the top, there wasn’t much change. Gonzaga and Baylor — the lone undefeated teams in the country — stayed at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Michigan came off of a two-week school-wide mandated pause and mounted a big comeback against Wisconsin to stay at No. 3. Ohio State stayed at No. 4 as the Buckeyes are one of the hottest teams in the country right now.

The Big 12 overtook the top spot with six teams ranked this week, followed by the Big Ten with five.

The back end of the top 25 shuffled a little as No. 23 Oklahoma State, No. 24 Purdue, and No. 25 Rutgers fell out and made room for Kansas, Arkansas, and San Diego State, respectively.
