The spring is generally a busy time for Virginia fans, but especially so this year. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve added women’s soccer to the spring mix, so there’s a bevy of teams battling to extend their seasons (and hopefully win titles).
In an attempt to make things easier to follow, we are going to keep things centralized here. This will not include any regular season (Baseball) or ACC tournament (Track and Field, Rowing) events, only NCAA! Please note all numbers associated with teams reflect their tournament seeds, not national rankings. We will update this with stat links or streaming/TV information as it becomes available.
Thursday, May 13
Women’s Soccer vs. No. 1 Florida State
NCAA Semifinals
6pm
ESPN2
The unseeded Cavaliers face a tough test on Wednesday evening as they play ACC foe and No. 1 seed FSU in the national semis. FSU edged Virginia, 4-3, back in the fall, but the Hoos are rolling right now. Virginia has beaten SIUE, BYU, Rice, and No. 4 seed TCU en route to its first College Cup since 2014. The last time they were there? They lost 1-0 to the Noles in the title game. Catch all the action at 6pm on ESPN2.
Friday, May 14
Women’s Lacrosse vs. UConn
NCAA First Round
5pm
ESPN3
The Cavaliers are making their 25th straight postseason appearance as they square off with the Big East’s Huskies. UConn lost in their conference title game and come into the tournament with a 12-6 record. Virginia will look to end a 6-game losing streak and earn a shot at Notre Dame in the second round.
Sunday, May 16
No. 14 Women’s Tennis vs. No. 3 Georgia
NCAA Round of 16
10am
Live Stats
Virginia took out Tennessee to reach the Round of 16, and they now have a stiff test as the Dawgs wait for them at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. First year Emma Navarro has been a revelation for the Hoos, and she will look to improve to 3-0 in singles matches this postseason.
No. 4 Men’s Lacrosse vs. Bryant
NCAA First Round
12pm
ESPNU
The Hoos are hosting the Bulldogs after a lay-off of three weeks. Bryant likes to run in transition, but Lars Tiffany has had his team working on the ride — among other things — during their wait for the postseason. Virginia’s attack of Matt Moore, Connor Shellenberger, Ian Laviano, Payton Cormier, and Charlie Bertrand is potent, and the defense has rounded into form as the season has progressed.
Monday, May 17
Men’s Golf
NCAA Kingston Springs Regional
TBA
The Cavaliers are the sixth-seeded team at the Kingston Springs Regional in Tennessee, and the top five teams — and top individual that isn’t with a qualifying team — moving on to the NCAA Championships. Virginia is playing in a regional for the 24th time in program history.
No. 5 Men’s Tennis vs. No. 12 USC
NCAA Round of 16
4pm
Live Stats
The ACC Champion Hoos look to move onto the Elite Eight as they face the Trojans at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. Virginia swept Fairleigh Dickinson and took out Stanford to make the Round of 16, and they have their sights set on the program’s fifth national championship.
