Virginia commit Shane Panzini has been drafted 108th overall in the fourth round by the Kansas City Royals. He’s the second Virgiia commit to be selected in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft after Benny Montgomery went eighth overall to the Colorado Rockies.
With the 108th pick, the @Royals select Red Bank Catholic HS (NJ) right-hander Shane Panzini, No. 140 on the Top 250 Draft Prospects list.

The pick carries with it a slot value bonus of 538K and it’s highly unlikely that he’d turn down that opportunity and play for the Cavaliers.
Panzini is a 6-3 right handed pitcher out of Red Bank Catholic High School in Spring Lake, New Jersey and committed to Virginia in his sophomore year. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named Panzini to its 2021 All-American Team and he was one of the top rated prospects coming out of the state of New Jersey. He’s a big kid who throws in the mid to upper 90’s with a good slider.
The draft will go through round ten on Monday and pick up Tuesday beginning at Noon. Follow all the picks at MLB.com
