Virginia Football Schedule: Season Predictions

Your STL staff takes a crack at predicting the future

NCAA Football: Boston College at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The 2021-22 season is upon us and before we dive into game week, your Streaking the Lawn staff took one more look at the full season and made predictions on what’s to come.

Five of the eight of us picked the Virginia Cavaliers to finish the season with a 7-5 record. Caroline—on brand—predicts a 8-4 finish with signature upsets over Notre Dame and Caroline. Meanwhile Will and I have the bleakest outlook for the Hoos, just barely qualifying for a bowl game with a 6-6 record.

Here’s a full look at each of our picks:

The team unanimously picked Cavalier victories over William & Mary, Illinois, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. The only unanimous loss predicted by our staff was to Miami.

Of course, a lot remains up in the air on how the season will shape up. Per ACC policy, any school that cannot play due to Covid restrictions will forfeit the game. Out of the eight of us, only one predicts a game cancellation due to Covid (due to either team).

We also took a crack at Atlantic and Coastal Division champions. As a reminder, Virginia is the current reigning Coastal Division champs (last year’s divisions were disregarded).

No surprise - we all think Clemson will take the Atlantic.

On the Coastal side, there are really only two contenders in our eyes - North Carolina and Miami.

What about you? What is your prediction for the Hoos this season?
