After throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two more, UVA quarterback Brennan Armstrong was named (Co-) QB of the week for the conference. The Hoos dismantled William & Mary in their season-opening game and Armstrong’s great offensive performance led directly to four of the team’s five touchdowns.

Armstrong completed 21 of 31 passes in the blowout, threw for 339 yards, carried the ball 7 times, and avoided committing any turnovers on the night. The Ohio gunslinger looked crisp in his decision making and while his rushing yardage total only amounted to a net gain of zero yards, his first rushing score seemed to settle down the Virginia offense after a unproductive first quarter. After that score, the Hoos steadily moved the ball against W&M and confidently piled on points as the game progressed. He shares this week’s honors with Boston College’s Phil Jurnovec.
