2014 Virginia Signee: Michael Biesemier

Michael Biesemier
Position: DE
Hometown (School): Lynchburg, VA (Virginia Episcopal)
Height/Weight: 6'4" 235 lbs
Committed to Virginia: 12/02/13
Lead Recruiter: Anthony Poindexter

Alphabetically, the first prospect in the 2014 Virginia recruiting class is Michael Biesemier. Biesemier is somewhat under the radar as a prospect, with most of his offers being from IAA schools. Maryland has also shown interest. He's unrated by Rivals, 2 star by Scout and 3 star by ESPN.

There are a lot of questions about Michael, not the least of which is where he will play. One thing that isn't being questioned is whether or not he'll redshirt. Biesemier may the most likely redshirt candidate in this class. He's raw, coming out of a lower division HS program. He's also kind of position-less right now.

He's listed as a DE by the recruiting services, and that seems to be where he will start out. That said, he may not really be quick enough to play DE at this level. If he can add some weight, he could slide inside (something he has experience with) and play DT. That would probably require him to put on 40+ pounds. If he's able to put on the weight, he could also move to offensive line.

Here's Biesemier's highlight video from his junior season.

He plays mostly DT in this video. The first that pops out at you (other than the fact that this is one of the worst produced highlight reels you've ever seen) is that he's just so much bigger than the other kids on the field. That obviously won't be the case in college, and that is why Michael is going to need a redshirt year to develop his skills and his body. And to figure out where he will ultimately end up.
