The Golden Nugget is once again the first sportsbook in Las Vegas to open betting on college football games. ESPN published the full list of games, together with their opening lines, here. Virginia is the underdog in all of them. Here are the games listed for the Hoos:
September 5 - Virginia at UCLA (-17)
September 12 - Notre Dame (-9) at Virginia
September 25 - Boise State (-9) at Virginia
October 10 - Virginia at Pittsburgh (-6)
October 31 - Georgia Tech (-10) at Virginia
November 7 - Virginia at Miami (-6.5)
November 27 - Virginia Tech (-4) at Virginia
Despite the doom and gloom fans have associated with this upcoming season, of the seven listed games, Virginia is only a double-digit underdog in two of them. That's good news.
Perhaps more good news? Virginia Tech is only a four-point favorite in Charlottesville, which is possibly the most surprising line here. With both teams at 5-6 on the season last year heading into the final game, the spread was an even pick'em.
Last season, Virginia Tech went 6-7-0 against the spread, while the Hoos went 7-5-0.
The bad news is that there's still a lot - a lot - of time between now and the season's start, and that these lines will change quite a bit throughout both the offseason and after kickoff.
What say you, Wahoo faithful? Of these seven lines, let us know in the comments how you're betting!
