Virginia running back Tre Harbison is transferring away from UVA, reports 247Sports.com.
Harbison had originally committed in April 2015 under Mike London. He enrolled early this January and was considered a three-star recruit across the board. Rivals ranked him the No. 18 running back in the 2016 class, while 247Sports.com ranked him No. 20.
The 5'10", 220-pound North Carolina native had picked Virginia over offers from Boston College, North Carolina, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia, among others.
According to 247Sports.com, Harbison received a full release from VIrginia, and while he would have to sit out during the 2016 due to NCAA transfer rules, he would still have five years remaining, with four years of eligibility.
Harbison was the only incoming freshman at the running back position. With Smoke Mizzell, Daniel Hamm, Olamide Zaccheaus, Albert Reid, and Jordan Ellis, this may not have a major impact on the upcoming season, but it will be an immediate need for Bronco Mendenhall and staff as they continue their recruiting path.
