Juan Thornhill named to Nagurski Trophy Preseason Watch List

Virginia Cavaliers’ Juan Thornhill picked up his second award watch list recognition when the Football Writers’ Association of America released its 2018 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The list features 97 defensive players that are among the most likely to receive the FWAA’s Defensive Player of the Year title.

Last week, Thornhill was also named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list, the Maxwell Football Club’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

An All-ACC selection last year, Thornhill recorded 63 tackles, 4 INTs, and 12 pass breakups in 2017. He’s one of 13 ACC players and 27 backs to make the list.
