Justin Anderson has been ruled out for Virginia's Saturday game at Louisville after having an appendectomy earlier today, per a VirginiaSports.com release.
The news comes just days after it was rumored that Anderson would return for the regular season finale with the Cardinals. He's been out for the past 4 weeks, but has been nearing a full recovery after fracturing his finger.
"Anderson's status for next week's ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., is to be determined," per the release.
Looking at other athletes who have received appendectomies, recovery time has been around 10 days. The Kansas City Chiefs' Matt Cassel played 11 days after his surgery. Comparing to some basketball cases, Brandon Davies missed 11 days as well for BYU. Travis Wear of UCLA missed almost 3 weeks, while WSU's Devonte Lacy was back in action in 8 days. This type of timeframe would make Anderson unlikely to return for the ACC Tournament, but good to go for the NCAAs.
Best wishes to Justin for a speedy recovery - as usual, his spirit's are high:
Big Faith !! I am good !! Trust me !! Love you all, Go Hoos !!
