Virginia Basketball pulled off a bit of a recruiting coup on Thursday, as 2016 forward Jay Huff committed to the Cavaliers. Jeff Borzello had the initial report, and CavsCorner.com confirmed Huff's decision later.
Huff is a lanky power forward, measuring 6-foot-10 but weighing in at 180 pounds. This makes him a potential redshirt candidate, giving him an extra year to work with strength coach Mike Curtis to prepare for the rigors of ACC play. Huff is from Voyager Academy in Durham, N.C., located about five miles from the Duke campus.
The highly-rated four-star is known for his shooting ability, which could also lead to him being a stretch four under the Tony Bennett system. With Huff and fellow 2016 commits Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy, the shooting voids that Bennett had to fill with the impending departures of the likes of Malcolm Brogdon and Anthony Gill are all but filled.
Huff is the fourth four-star member of the 2016 class, with offers for Mamadi Diakite (Va.) and five-star small forward V.J. King (Ohio) still on the table.
Check out the video below for some highlights of what Huff (No. 30) brings to the table.
