Morgan State Basketball to open their season in Charlottesville

Another piece of Virginia Basketball's non-conference schedule is revealed. Here's what we know so far.

Morgan State men's basketball has completed their non-conference schedule, the school announced today. Why might you care? Headlining the scheduling for the Bears are the Virginia Cavaliers, who will be hosting Morgan State on Friday, November 13, 2015 in Charlottesville.

That doesn't necessarily mean that this is the season opener for the Hoos as well, as Virginia could be playing before then. That said, the last three seasons have had Friday night openers.

Morgan State finished last season with a 7-24 record, losing to Hampton in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. Hampton would go on to win the tournament and earn a berth to the First Four games of the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Manhattan before falling to Kentucky in the next round.

Based on what we've been able to scrap together so far, this is what Virginia's out of conference schedule is looking like:

Date Opponent
11/13 Morgan State
11/16 @ George Washington
11/19 Charleston Classic vs. Bradley
11/20 Charleston Classic vs. Seton Hall or Long Beach State
11/22 Charleston Classic vs. Ole Miss or George Mason or Towson or Oklahoma State
12/1 ACC/B1G Challenge at Ohio State
12/5 William & Mary
12/8 Jimmy V Classic vs. West Virginia (Jimmy V Classic)
12/19 Villanova
12/22 California
12/30 Oakland

That's 11 out of conference opponents already. Typically Virginia plays 13 out of conference teams, though last year there were only 12. (The ACC's 18-game conference schedule went into effect three years ago.)
