Because tonight's Virginia Cavaliers matchup against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons was originally scheduled for yesterday, it will not be televised by ESPNU. as originally scheduled, nor will it air on any regional network. Instead, the game will only air on ESPN3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
What does this mean for you?
You won't find the game on your channel guide. Don't assume they'll be showing it at your regular viewing bar. Rather, you'll have to watch using one of these methods:
- Go to WatchESPN.com and watch on your computer. (This will be available even if you don't have an ESPN subscription. In the past, you may have been blocked from streaming games on WatchESPN, but that is not the case with tonight's game because it airs only on "ESPN3.")
- Use your smart phone, tablet, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire, or XBox to access the WatchESPN app. (An ESPN subscription is required, and you'll be prompted to enter your cable subscription information, so have that handy. However, if you are accessing the WatchESPN app through a campus (.edu) or military (.mil) network, you'll be able to use these devices without a subscription. So, if you are a student and your smartphone is connected to the on-campus "Cavalier" network, you'll be able to stream the game there.)
- If you have more questions, here is ESPN's FAQ - it's a pretty confusing setup.
- If you're looking to watch at a bar, call in advance to ensure they have the capability to show ESPN3. Most bars won't, but some will. (In Charlottesville, Boylan Heights confirmed they'll have the game.)
The game will also be on the radio on the Virginia Sports Radio Network, or on Cavaliers Live.
Virginia is looking for their first road ACC win of the year. Last season, the Hoos destroyed Wake 70-34 at the Joel, but needed a last second defensive stop to sneak past them 71-70 at home. UVA is favored by 6.5 tonight.
