ESPN’s College Gameday Returns to Charlottesville, Virginia!

Start working on those signs now!

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

For the third time in school history—all coming in the last four seasons—ESPN’s College Gameday will be coming to Charlottesville to see the Virginia Cavaliers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday, February 10 at John Paul Jones Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Las Vegas won’t release their odds for this game until late next week, but at least as of this announcement, KenPom is predicting a 70-57 final score, with an 89% likelihood of the Hoos winning.

Gameday airs on ESPN starting at 11:00 a.m. ET until noon. Here are the details on logistics from the University itself:

Admission and parking will be free for all fans attending the national pregame show Saturday morning. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. and all seating at John Paul Jones Arena is general admission.

The first 2,000 UVA students to enter JPJ will receive an official ESPN College GameDay t-shirt. All fans will have the opportunity to receive complimentary tickets to the men’s lacrosse home opener vs. Loyola at 1 p.m. on Saturday and one lucky fan in attendance will win a pair of lower level tickets to the Virginia-Virginia Tech game. Additional promotions and giveaways will be announced later this week.

If you can’t make it there in person, you can watch on ESPN or stream it live online from the WatchESPN app, available from your phone, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and pretty much any device you can come up with.

After Gameday, while you’re waiting for tip-off, swing by Klockner to watch the men’s lacrosse season opener, as our No. 15 Hoos take on No. 10 Loyola at 1:00 p.m. You’ll have plenty of time to rest up and get back to John Paul Jones to keep the madness going.

Looking for signage ideas? Here are some of the best that we saw back in 2016, and here are some from 2015, ESPN College Gameday’s inaugural trip to Charlottesville. There’s a reason Rece Davis called it the Gameday Crowd of the Year.

Heck, in 2015, even the Travelocity gnome made it to town!

But first, Virginia is looking to beat Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. Tipoff for that game is today at 4:00 p.m. ET. Here’s your BIG PREVIEW.

Will you be making the trip to Charlottesville early in the morning to get rowdy with the best crowd in college basketball? What are you most looking forward to?
