The 2018 ACC Tournament semifinal matchups are finally set. Your Virginia Cavaliers take on the Clemson Tigers at 7:00 p.m. ET, while the Duke Blue Devils will face the North Carolina Tar Heels in the second game of the night.
Believe it or not, even with Virginia as a semifinalist, all four teams playing on Friday night scored at least 75 points en route to their quarterfinal victories. Virginia, obviously, was the lowest, with a 75-58 win over Louisville. Duke defeated Notre Dame 88-70 and North Carolina defeated Miami in the late game, 82-65.
Clemson, who only managed to score 36 points in the lone meeting between UVA and Clemson in the regular season, defeated Boston college 90-82.
For college basketball fans, you can’t ask for much of a better foursome for this ACC Tournament featuring all pre-expansion teams. It’s the top-ranked team in the country taking on a chalk opponent who could stand to make some big jumps in NCAA Tournament seeding. It’s the defending ACC Tournament champions taking on the defending national champions.
It’s ACC basketball.
Here’s an updated bracket of what the ACC Tournament looks like in the semifinals.
