Basketball season is shockingly right around the corner, and with it, the Virginia Cavaliers’ title defense. But before we get into any of that, ACC Media Days allows fans and media alike to get their first glimpse of the players, off the court and in a lighter atmosphere.
Alongside head coach Tony Bennett this year were Mamadi Diakite and Braxton Key. Sure, we got to hear Bennett talk about the new 20-game ACC schedule, and Key talk about starting the season on the road at Syracuse, and Diakite on his mentality entering the season. We heard all of that.
But anyone who’s ever followed along with ACC Media Days knows it’s all about the antics.
The ACC put on display a replica NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship trophies. It was cute. It was adorable. For some schools, they’ve never had the chance to see or touch such a thing before.
But Mamadi and Braxton know better.

“That’s not real!” “Ours is in Charlottesville!”
Shade.
In case you’re wondering what Diakite’s talking about...
He’s talking about that one.
Keep staying tuned to STL as we continue our football and basketball coverage in October!
