Virginia Football and Basketball Recruiting Roundup: Craft Receives Offer, Possible Gibbs Commit?

Mike London extended an offer to a recruit who already committed to Virginia Tech...Basketball. Also, Twitter is suggesting that we could have another 4-star hoops commit soon.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another edition of Recruiting Roundup! With the Coastal Division-leading football team coming off of a bye and the defending ACC basketball champion team still a month away from the season, there is not a ton going right now, but that will change in a hurry. In the meantime, we will focus on the new football offers and preview a key basketball visit.

Let's go!

Offers, Offers, Offers:

With no game this past weekend, Mike London and the staff hit the recruiting trail hard. The biggest news however came last night, when 2015 William Fleming wide receiver Warren Craft picked up an offer from the Wahoos. Craft originally committed to play basketball at Virginia Tech, but when head coach James Johnson was fired last spring, Craft decided to reopen his options. The 6-3, 185 pound Craft is only in his second year playing varsity football, but has performed a huge role in William Fleming's most successful season in some time. Craft is an extremely explosive weapon at wide receiver and is still scratching the surface of his football potential. More on this one as it develops.

London and company focused heavily on the 2016 class as well, dishing out a quartet of new offers. Virginia became the latest school to offer OT/DT Devery Hamilton of the Gilman School in Baltimore. Gilman has been kind to the UVa program over the years, producing current Wahoos Darius Jennings and Micah Kiser. The Cavaliers also joined West Virginia in pursuit of Pennsylvania defensive back Andrew Pryts.

The staff also hit the state of Georgia hard, offering junior safety Brittan Brown, and wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebe. Imatorbhebe, who has one of the best names ever, also has an older brother Daniel, whom Virginia is recruiting for the class of 2015.

Friday Night Lights:

We will head north to New Jersey to check in on running back Chris Sharp for this edition of Friday Night Lights. Sharp rushed 11 times for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Hun School's 46-16 win over Blair Academy this past week. The rugged tailback also caught a pass for 30 yards, and registered eight total tackles in the big win. We've said it before and we'll say it again, Sharp's size and power will be a perfect complement to fellow running back commit Olamide Zaccheaus' speed.

Visit Looming:

Switching gears to basketball, where head coach Tony Bennett will welcome a key visitor this coming weekend. Four-star combo guard Kyle Guy will make the trek to Charlottesville to get a closer look at the Cavalier program. The Wahoos offered Guy back in late July, and the 6-2, 155 pounder has since added offers from NC State, Iowa, and California. The UVa staff checked in on Guy in person early last month, and the junior guard took a visit to Purdue one week later. This will be an important visit for UVa to make an impression with one of the many talented combo guards on the recruiting board for 2016.

Twitter Tracker Twitter Tracker Twitter Tracker:

Speaking of the 2016 recruiting, Virginia's lone commit for the class Ty Jerome sparked some interest with one of his tweets last Thursday night. The floor general tweeted at four-star UVa target Temple Gibbs, "Happy Birthday to my brother @Tempppp12 probably my future teammate too." Bennett and the Wahoos offered Gibbs back on October first, and the four-star playmaker is yet another guard in the wide net for 2016. Does Jerome know something that we don't? Yes, this was a very slow news week indeed.

That will do it for this today's roundup! Have a great week everybody!
